Can I breath now?
Our petitions were turned in yesterday. It was hard to let them go after caring for and nurturing them the past 90 days.
I woke up at 7am Sunday morning, headed to East Dundee, IL to set up our operation there, stopped by our booth at the Custer St. Fair in Evanston then headed downtown to set up our petition drive operation there. Left Chicago about 3am Monday morning and got to Kinkos in Peoria as they opened at 6am. Copied the rest of the signatures, hole punched them, and bound them and got home for a nap after 8am.
At 10am I woke up as we had some more petitions show up and went back to Kinkos to finish the job. Headed off to Springfield at noon to meet Scott Bludorn so he could use our hole punch and binders. Turned in Statements of Economic Interests at the Secretary of State Index Department. Ran into the some Green Party members and hung out at the Heartland Peace Center while they put their stuff together. Even gave them some binders if they wanted to use them instead. (One party helping another? Unheard of.)
Then it was off to the State Board of Elections building. I filed the papers for several other Libertarian candidates (including myself), then got ready to file our statewide petitions for US Senate and President. Nader's people showed up, and we gabbed about the Bush on the ballot situation for a while, and then turned in our petitions just about simultaneosly at 4:45pm. Finally got around to eating for the first time at Outback Steakhouse and headed home to Peoria, where I crashed and burned after the grueling schedule at 9pm.
I'm brain dead but alive.
